in the midst of a Civil War battle

While I can’t say that I will ever photograph wars or civil conflicts, I can say I’ve shot a civil war battle… reenactment that is. For my final project for my Advanced Techniques in Photojournalism course, myself and three others drove to Arkansas this past weekend to shoot the Prairie Grove Battlefield reenactment.

We spent three days there (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) photographing mostly the Union soldiers in their down time, singing, playing music, marching, cooking, call-ins for line up and of course the battles which took place Saturday and Sunday. A contact told me the the Prairie Grove is one of the few reenactments that actually take place on the grounds where the original battle took place. I would like to say more, but I will have more to say in my next post when we have our multimedia piece finished on Friday. For now, here are some of my favorites photos from the reenactment:
